What to Wear in Goa

Goa is tropical and casual — you can get through an entire trip in shorts, a T-shirt and sandals. The main thing to get right is fabric: cotton and linen breathe in the humidity, synthetics do not.

Peak season (November to February) is warm and dry — 28 to 33 degrees during the day. Light clothing, swimwear, sunglasses and sunscreen cover the basics. A light cotton shirt or kaftan doubles as a beach cover-up and something presentable for restaurants.

The monsoon (June to September) transforms Goa — heavy rain, high humidity, lush green everything. Pack a good rain jacket, quick-dry clothing, and waterproof sandals. Mosquito repellent becomes more important in the wet months.

If you are visiting churches or temples — cover shoulders and knees. A light scarf or sarong works perfectly. For scooter travel, closed-toe shoes are safer than flip-flops.
