November to February is peak season and the best time for most visitors — dry skies, 28 to 33 degrees, low humidity, calm seas. December and January are the busiest months. Christmas and New Year in Goa draw beach parties, live music and a festive atmosphere. Book accommodation well ahead.

October and March sit on either side of peak season — still mostly dry, warm enough for the beach, noticeably fewer crowds and lower prices.

The monsoon (June to September) brings dramatic daily rainfall, empty beaches, lush green landscapes and a completely different Goa. Most beach shacks dismantle for the season but the state is at its most beautiful — waterfalls in full flow, spice plantations vivid green.

April and May are pre-monsoon — genuinely hot (36 to 38 degrees), humid, and quiet. Not ideal for a first visit but prices are rock-bottom.
