ETIAS is expected to start in the last quarter of 2026 for eligible visa-exempt travellers to many European countries. It is not the same as the Entry/Exit System. ETIAS is a travel authorisation, while EES records border entry and exit data.nnTripAdept planning note: before booking a Europe trip later in 2026 or beyond, check whether your nationality needs ETIAS, make sure your passport is valid, and avoid last-minute applications once the system starts.

TripAdept note: This is a planning update, not legal or immigration advice. Always verify current rules with official sources before travel.
