ItinerariesDAY 1: THE HARBOUR
Start at the Sydney Opera House, including a guided interior tour if you can time it around a gap in the performance schedule. Walk across, or climb, the Sydney Harbour Bridge in the afternoon — the climb needs advance booking given how popular it is. In the evening, take a harbour ferry ride — practical transport, sure, but genuinely scenic in its own right, especially toward sunset.
DAY 2: THE BEACHES
Spend the morning at Bondi Beach, then walk the coastal path toward Coogee — one of Sydney’s most consistently rewarding urban walks, passing several smaller beaches and dramatic coastal cliffs along the way. In the afternoon, either head back to Bondi or continue on to Coogee for a swim, depending on your energy.
DAY 3: BLUE MOUNTAINS DAY TRIP
The Blue Mountains sit roughly two hours from central Sydney by car or train, delivering a genuinely different eucalyptus forest landscape. The Three Sisters rock formation near Katoomba is the signature viewpoint, with several walking trails of varying difficulty to choose from.
ONE THING WORTH KNOWING: Sydney’s public transport — including its extensive ferry network, trains and buses — is generally all you need for the city itself, no car required. For the Blue Mountains day trip, the train works well, or an organised tour if you’d rather not navigate it solo.
